NWEA has worked to improve and protect national laws and policies of the Clean Water Act to ensure strong state regulatory programs in the Northwest and across the nation. We have brought numerous lawsuits to obtain and improve pollution controls on ship discharges through the Clean Water Act. We represented environmental interests on EPA’s DATE advisory committee on water pollution clean-up plans. We have prepared comments on EPA national rules. And we have brought lawsuits that have established federal legal precedents on the content and enforceability of NPDES discharge permits.
