Oak Lodge Wastewater Permit

Thank you for the extension to the due date for public comments on this proposed permit. These comments are submitted on behalf of Northwest Environmental Advocates and the Northwest Environmental Defense Center.
1. Copper, Ammonia and Jeopardy. The National Marine Fisheries Services (NMFS) issued a final Biological Opinion on Oregon’s aquatic life criteria for toxics in 2012. In that document, NMFS concluded that Oregon’s current aquatic life criteria for copper and ammonia present jeopardy to threatened and endangered salmonids. At this writing, Oregon DEQ has not taken action to remedy the standards’ deficiencies nor has EPA.
